Chaplains, like other healthcare professions, need to have continuing education to make sure they keep their skills sharp and know the latest research. The Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) requires 50 hours of continuing education a year for its board-certified chaplains. This webpage will provide links to opportunities for continuing education for chaplains.
The guidelines for continuing education through the APC are as follows:
- Provide opportunities to maintain and enhance the professional knowledge, competency and performance of chaplains.
- Provide opportunites to help chaplains identify personal and professional needs, and receive consultation, support and consel from peers.
- Promote the development of resources and networks for the ongoing personal and professional learning and growth experiences of professional chaplains.
